Paraganglioma, also known as Hyalinising trabecular adenoma, is an uncommon thyroid tumour that mostly occurs in middle-aged women. The histological similarity to paraganglioma, as well as papillary and medullary thyroid cancer, may often result in misinterpretation. Immunohistochemical markers often assist in confirming a diagnosis. The biology and clinical progression of these tumours are often regarded as benign. Nevertheless, further research is required to confirm this. We describe a case of a 30-year-old woman with a long-standing goitre, ultimately identified with PLAT upon final histopathological examination.
